The Autism Diagnostic Schedule (ADOS)

ADOS is an instrument that aids in the diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The process takes between 30-60 minutes and is comprised of a variety of activities and/or questions, depending on the age of the individual.

Based on this interaction the therapist will gauge the activities or responses into observational categories which translate into a score that can be used for analysis.

The results are compared to a research driven norm which allows for a standardized assessment of Autism Spectrum symptoms. This is a tool that is used in conjunction with a good social history and feedback from family members, teachers, physicians and providers that will support and clarify the diagnostic process.

At KAS the ADOS is administered by Julie Coughenour Ph.D, who has a wealth of experience working with Autism and has been administering the ADOS for over three years after receiving specialized training.
